About

Gigi Bevilacqua

Hey there, I'm Gigi.

I was born in Brazil and have lived in Argentina, Uruguay, and now Italy, where I’m currently based. My life has been shaped by movement, and with each country, I’ve collected languages, stories, and ways of seeing the world. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian—something that allows me to write and illustrate stories that move between cultures. I often translate my own work, and I love the subtle shifts in meaning that happen between languages.

I’ve always been passionate about storytelling. As a kid, I used to illustrate little books, and get lost in imaginary worlds. That sense of wonder and curiosity continues to guide me today. I write and illustrate children’s books with a focus on empathy, emotional intelligence, and the realities of our world, always through a lens that children can understand—simple language with layered meaning.

While I work mostly digitally, I’m always seeking warmth and texture, often bringing in details that evoke traditional media.

My favorite themes revolve around belonging, resilience, curiosity, and human connection. I believe children are capable of understanding complex emotions when approached with care and honesty, and that’s what I try to offer in both my writing and my illustrations.

In my free time, I love walking in nature, going for runs, and having picnics with my son. These slow and joyful moments ground me and often find their way into the stories I tell.
